Restore a runtime application
Use
FactoryTalk View
ME Application Manager's runtime restore operation to create a development application file (*.med) from a FactoryTalk View ME
v5.00 or later runtime application file (*.mer).
TIP:
This operation cannot be applied to runtime files created with versions of
FactoryTalk View Studio
prior to 5.00.When a runtime file is created with
FactoryTalk View Studio
5.00 or later, the user has the option of permanently protecting the file against conversion into a development file, or requiring a password. Protected runtime files cannot be converted into development applications.Runtime conversion restores the application shortcuts and the original runtime

platform communications configuration only. It does not restore the communications topology of the original design workstation.To restore a runtime application
- SelectRestore runtime applicationand clickNext.
- Select the archive file that you wish to restore. You can click theBrowsebutton (...) to search for and select the file. The default folder for runtime files is\Users\Public\Public Documents\RSView Enterprise\ME\Runtime.
- If the selected file is password-protected, enter the password and clickNext.
- Enter the name of the new application to be created from the backup archive, then clickNext.The default name will be the name of the application that was originally archived. If the name is the same as an existing application, you will be prompted to overwrite the existing application. If you want to overwrite it, clickYes. If you do not want to overwrite it, clickNoand enter another name.When you enter a new application name, do not exceed 32 characters. If the application name exceeds the maximum 32 characters allowed byFactoryTalk View Studio, errors and warning messages will show.
- ClickFinish.
A progress bar appears, indicating the application being restored. When the conversion process is complete, a Shortcut Validation report is generated and stored in the same location as the project file. Use this report as a tool to help you confirm all of your shortcuts and offline tag file assignments.
