Edit a project template
To edit a project template, open the template and modify the content to appear by default in
projects created with the template. You can also edit the template name and description that
are displayed on the template card to describe the content of the template.
- In the main toolbar, selectProject.The Start page opens.
- Open the template by selecting either:
- Recent template. Select Home or select Open and then select Recent to select the template to open.
- Remote template. Select Open and then select Remote to select the template to open, or enter aRemote URL and Location to select a remote template.
- Optix template. SelectOpenand then selectTemplatesto select the Optix template to open.
- Change the content in the Optix template.
- Save the Optix template with:
- The same name. From the toolbar, select
Save. - A different name:
- Name. Enter the name of the Optix template.
- Save as type. Select Optix Template (*.optixt).
- Location. The location for templates is read-only.NOTE: Optix templates are stored inC:\Users\Username\Documents\Rockwell Automation\FactoryTalk Optix\ProjectTemplates. Optix template names are prepended with FTOptix_template_.
- (optional)Use Version Control. Select to track changes made to the Optix template and store the template in a Git repository.
- (optional)Encrypt secrets. Select to encrypt sensitive data contained in the Optix template.
- SelectOK.
- The same name and committed to the repository. From the toolbar, select .
- Change the default template name and description that appear on the card when selecting the template:
- InProperties, inDisplay name, type a descriptive name of the template.
- InDescription, type a description such as the purpose of the template.TIP: Lengthy template descriptions are truncated but appear in full when hovering over the description on the template card.
- To close the template, from the main toolbar, selectProject
, and then
on the Start page, select Close Project.
