2080-SERIALISOL plug-in module configuration page

After adding a 2080-SERIALISOL plug-in module, the
Serial Port
configuration page is created. To open the
Serial Port
configuration page, on the
2080-SERIALISOL
page, select

Description
Common Settings
Diagnose
Opens the
Communication Diagnostics
view that displays the status of the communication driver.
Diagnose
is available when:
  • The controller is online, and
  • CIP serial
    or
    Modbus RTU
    is selected as the driver.
Driver
Lists the available communication drivers. The driver selection decides which settings will be displayed on the page.
Options are:
  • ASCII
  • CIP serial
  • Modbus RTU
  • DNP3 slave
Available for 2080-L70E-24QBBN or 2080-L70E-24QWBN controllers.
  • Shutdown
The default setting is CIP serial.
Baud rate
Lists the baud rate in bits per second. Options are:
  • 1200
  • 2400
  • 4800
  • 9600
  • 19200
  • 38400
The default baud rate is 38400.
Parity
Lists the parity bit usage in the communication packets. Options are:
  • None
  • Odd
  • Even
The default value is None.
Node address (for DNP3 slave)
Specifies the address of the controller on the DNP3 network. The address of each device on the network must be unique.
The value is from 0 through 65519. The default value is 1.
Station address (for CIP serial)
Specifies the station address for the serial port that is associated with the Data Framing (DF) 1 protocol.
The address is from 0 through 254. The default value is 1.
Modbus role (for Modbus RTU)
Specifies the role of the Modbus port. Options are:
  • Master
  • Slave
  • Auto
The default setting is Master.
Protocol Control
DNP3 slave
The
Protocol Control
settings for DNP3 slave are the same as the settings on the Serial port - DNP3 slave configuration page.
DF1 mode (for CIP serial)
Specifies the supported protocol.
The protocol control setting varies with the selected DF1 mode, including:
Media
Specifies the communication media. Options are:
  • RS232
  • RS485
The default setting is RS232.
Control line
Specifies the type of handshake for communication.
  • Select
    No Handshake
for direct point-to-point communication without a modem.
  • select
Half Duplex without continuous carrier (RTS/CTS)
when both the master and slave are using the half-duplex modems.
  • Select
    Full-duplex(RTC always on)
when both the master and slave are using the full-duplex modems.
The default setting is No Handshake.
Unit address (for Modbus RTU)
Specifies the Unit ID if configured as a Modbus server (slave). The option is not available when
Modbus role
is set as
Master
.
The value is from 1 through 247. The default setting is 1.
Media (for Modbus RTU)
Specifies the supported media type.
The options available for L50E controllers are:
  • RS232 no handshake
  • RS232 RTS/CTS
  • RS485
Data bits
Specifies the number of bits of data per character.
  • For Modbus RTU, the default setting is 8 and it is read-only.
  • For ASCII, options include
    7
    and
    8
, and 8 is the default setting.
Deletion mode (for ASCII)
Specifies the mode of the ASCII deletion character. The mode affects the characters that are echoed back to the remote device.
  • In
    CRT
mode, when encountering a deletion character, the
    Micro800
controller echoes three characters to the device: backspace, space, and backspace. This covers the previous character on the terminal.
  • In
    Ignore
mode, the previous character is removed from the receive buffer.
    Ignore
    is the default option.
  • In
    Printer
mode, when encountering a deletion character, the
    Micro800
controller echoes the slash character, and then echoes the deleted character.
Stop bits (for ASCII)
Specifies the number of stop bits per character. Options include
1
and
2
. 1 is the default setting.
Append chars (for ASCII)
Specifies the append characters that are defined for the ASCII protocol and used for transmitting. It is from zero to two hexadecimal values, separated by a comma.
0xFF
is reserved and can be used to signify no characters. The default setting is
0x0D,0x0A
.
For example:
  • 0x0D,0x0A - 2 characters, the default value
  • 0x0D,0xff - 1 character
  • 0x0D - 1 character
  • 0xff,0xff - no characters
  • 0xff - no characters
  • blank - no characters
Termination chars (for ASCII)
Specifies the termination characters that are defined for the ASCII protocol and used for receiving. It is from zero to two hexadecimal values, separated by a comma.
0xFF
is reserved and can be used to signify no characters. The default value is
0x0D,0x0A
.
For example:
  • 0x0D,0x0A - 2 characters, the default value
  • 0x0D,0xff - 1 character
  • 0x0D - 1 character
  • 0xff,0xff - no characters
  • 0xff - no characters
  • blank - no characters
XON/XOFF (for ASCII)
Turns on or turns off the XON/XOFF function. The setting is not available when
Control line
is set to
Half-duplex without continuous carrier (RTS/CTS)
. It is turned off by default.
Echo mode (for ASCII)
Turns on or turns off the character echo. When turned on, all received characters are echoed back to the computer running
FactoryTalk Design Workbench
. When the
Micro800
controller is connected with a terminal, you can view the entered characters.
The setting is not available when
Control line
is set to
Half-duplex without continuous carrier (RTS/CTS)
.
It is turned off by default.
Broadcast pause (for Modbus RTU)
Specifies the delay after the data broadcast. The value is from 0 through 4,294,967,295 milliseconds. The default value is 200 milliseconds.

Specifies the delay after a transmission request. The value is from 0 through 4,294,967,295 microseconds. The default value is 0 microseconds.
RTS pre-delay (for Modbus RTU)
Specifies the delay period before requesting a transmission.
The value is from o through 4,294,967,295 microseconds. The default value is 0.
RTS post-delay (for Modbus RTU)
Specifies the delay period after requesting a transmission.
The value is from o through 4,294,967,295 microseconds. The default value is 0.
