Convert a project to the Logix Designer application

Convert a
FactoryTalk Design Studio
project to run in the
Logix Designer
application. Converting a project creates a zip file with the same name as the project. Within the zip file, there is an .L5X file for each controller program in the project.
IMPORTANT: You can make changes to the project in the
Logix Designer
application, but you cannot convert the project back to
FactoryTalk Design Studio
to make changes in
FactoryTalk Design Studio
.
Prerequisites
  • In the project to convert, create controllers and allocate a program to each controller in the project.
To convert a project to the
Logix Designer
application
  • From the menu bar, select
File > Convert to Logix Designer.
    TIP: When you convert a
    FactoryTalk Design Studio
    project to run in the
    Logix Designer
application, the converter assigns new names to
    FactoryTalk Smart Object
    programs by combining the
    FactoryTalk Smart Object
name and the name of the program. However, if the combined names of the
    FactoryTalk Smart Object
and the program exceed 40 characters, the converter shortens the new name by deleting characters from the end.
