Troubleshooting Tips

To make configuring your extractor easier for the first time, it is recommended to run it as a command line application rather than a service, if possible. Once you have configured the extractor and it’s running, you can switch to running as a service. When running from the command line, errors, info, and debug messages are more readily apparent than when running as a service.
When configuring OPC-UA extractors, make sure you have the placed certificates in the right places, or allow anonymous connects to the OPC-UA server. Initial trial runs often fail because the extractor cannot make a connection to the OPC-UA server. The command line messages or logs may have clues to help you identify this problem.
The YAML files are very specific about formatting. It is best to use an editor, such as Notepad++ or VisualStudio Code that has support for YAML files. If you have problems with the formatting, you can check the format with an online YAML validator, such as YAML Lint.
Also, when sending data from behind firewalls, you may need to whitelist the ports and destinations. Extractors use Port 443 outbound. You may also need to open ports to connect to your OPC-UA server.
