Step 2: Retrieve lifecycle information using the standalone FactoryTalk AssetCentre Lifecycle Information Transfer Utility

Import the device list that was exported from the FactoryTalk AssetCentre web client to the standalone
FactoryTalk AssetCentre Lifecycle Information Transfer Utility
 to retrieve lifecycle information. To connect to the PCDC to retrieve lifecycle information, an internet access is required, so you must install this tool on a computer with internet access.
Prerequisite
  • Make sure that you have the
    Update Lifecycle Metadata Using Airgap Lifecycle Transfer
     permission.

To retrieve lifecycle information using the FactoryTalk AssetCentre Lifecycle Information Transfer Utility
  1. Install
    FactoryTalk AssetCentre Lifecycle Information Transfer Utility
    .
    1. In the FactoryTalk AssetCentre installation package, navigate to 16.00.00-FTAssetCentre\Tools\FTAC Utility\FTAC Lifecycle Updater.
    2. Double-click the installation package and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  2. Open
    FactoryTalk AssetCentre Lifecycle Information Transfer Utility
    , and then select the browse button to import the ACPL file that was exported earlier.
  3. Enter the passphrase to decrypt the device list, and then select
    Next
    .
  4. After all device lifecycle information is successfully retrieved, select
    Next
    .
  5. Enter a passphrase to encrypt the updated device list, and then select
    Export
    .
  6. Save the ACPL file to a desired folder. Copy this file to a folder that the FactoryTalk AssetCentre web client can access.
