Agent

A program that can be located and run on a computer to help another computer complete a task. Agents allow work to be distributed and shared among multiple computers to spread processing load and speed up operations. When a server needs an agent to perform a task, it locates a computer running the correct agent and assigns the task to that agent. The agent then reports the task's completion to the server.

Agent Group

A plug-in that helps you manage the agents into groups. With this plug-in, the agent computers that are connected to the same FactoryTalk AssetCentre Server do not need to have the same configuration.

Archive

A version control tool that helps manage asset files. Use Archive to keep secure copies of asset configuration files, pin versions as masters, track versions, and control file use so that only one person at a time can modify a file. File size is not limited in Archive; file size is only limited by your SQL server's capabilities.

Audit log

It shows database information regarding actions users perform in the system, such as making edits to an Logix Designer project or opening or closing such a software product. Audit records are generated by FactoryTalk-enabled products.

Backup

A scheduled operation that stores a backup copy of files associated with a device asset in the FactoryTalk AssetCentre Archive. It is a part of the Disaster Recovery capability.

Backup and Compare

A scheduled operation that retrieves a backup copy of the file in the physical device, compares it to a specified version stored in the FactoryTalk AssetCentre Archive, and then reports the differences between the two. It is a part of the Disaster Recovery capability.
