Device Properties pane
The following table shows the properties in the
Device Properties
pane and their meanings.Properties | Descriptions |

Description | Shows the description of the asset that will be displayed on Assets when
the asset is selected. |
Name | Shows the asset name as it appears in the asset tree. The name is unique within
the parent container. |
Addressing Info | Shows the asset's location on the control network. |
Authentication | Shows the user credentials for the physical device. This property only applies to the Allen-Bradley E300 Overload Relay assets. |
Backup Configuration | Shows the backup settings for the asset. This property applies to the FactoryTalk Directory and FactoryTalk® View Site Edition (SE) assets. |
Backup Data | Shows the backup binder or file to use for Backup or Backup and Compare
operations for the asset. The Backup Data binder or file is used to store backup
files and is used for the compare operations in disaster recovery schedules. This property applies to Generic FTP devices, Siemens controllers, Mitsubishi
controllers, Schneider controllers, Allen-Bradley E300 Overload Relay, Custom
Device, Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive, Asset Inventory, FactoryTalk Directory,
Allen-Bradley Stratix Switch, FactoryTalk View Site Edition, FactoryTalk® Optix™ Runtime (Embedded), and FactoryTalk Optix Runtime
(Software). |
Catalog Information | Shows the manufacturer's catalog number for the asset. This box will be
filled in when browsing for the addressing information. |
Change Detect Capable | Shows the value that the software sets when you browse for the controller in the
Addressing Info box. If the controller supports and is configured for
change detection, then this value is set to True . If not, it is set to
False . If this box is empty, it means that the Addressing Info box
has not yet been used to browse for the controller.When this value is set to False or blank, the controller is not shown in
the list of assets when setting up a Device Monitor - Change Detect schedule.This property applies to Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 assets. |
Configuration Data | Shows the file, folder, or binder that serves as the master file depending on the
asset type. |
Controller Family | Shows the supported controller family of Siemens S7 Controllers. This property applies to the Siemens S7 Controller (TIA Portal). |
Device Name | Shows the name of the physical asset. |
DTM Addressing Info | Shows the asset's location of General DTM Device or Instrument. This property applies to General DTM Device and Instrument. It only shows when upgrading from FactoryTalk AssetCentre version 9.00 or earlier
if process device capability was activated back then. Starting from FactoryTalk
AssetCentre version 10.00, process device capabilities are not supported. If this
box was previously configured, it will show "No file selected" upon the
upgrade. |
Firmware Revision | Shows the firmware revision of the asset. This property applies to certain asset types, such as Allen-Bradley SLC™ 500 controllers. |
Hardware Revision | Shows the hardware revision or version number of the asset. |
Hardware Serial Number | Shows the serial number of the asset. This property shows automatically if the
addressing information is valid. |
Hardware Type | Shows the asset type. |
MAC Address | Shows the MAC Address. This property shows automatically if the addressing
information is valid. This property applies to Allen-Bradley E300 Overload Relay, Allen-Bradley Logix
5000 Controller, Allen-Bradley MicroLogix™ Controller, Allen-Bradley MobileView, Allen-Bradley PanelView™ , Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus ,
Allen-Bradley PLC-5® Controller, Allen-Bradley

Manufacturer | Shows the asset manufacturer. |
Manufacture Date | Shows the manufacture date of the asset. This property shows automatically if the
addressing information is valid. This property applies to Allen-Bradley E300 Overload Relay, Allen-Bradley Logix
5000 Controller, Allen-Bradley MobileView, Allen-Bradley PanelView, Allen-Bradley
PanelView Plus, RA Drive, Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive, and FactoryTalk Optix
Runtime (Embedded). This property is only retrievable for those devices that are
manufactured after the enhanced CIP identity object is introduced. |
Operating System | Shows the operating system of the remote computer. This property applies to remote computers and FactoryTalk Optix Runtime
(Software). |
Program Name | Shows the name of the Siemens SIMATIC S7 program selected in Configuration Data,
along with related information. The format is: Project Name\Station Name\CPU
Name\Program Name. This property applies to Siemens S7 Controller (STEP7). |
Scanning Configuration | Shows the scanning properties for Asset Inventory, including:
This property applies to Asset Inventory. |
Security Configuration | Shows the security configuration for the controller. This property applies to Mitsubishi Controller (GX Works2), Mitsubishi Controller
(GX Works3), and FactoryTalk Optix Runtime (Embedded). |
Selected Device | Shows the name of the selected Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive device. This property applies to Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive. |
Series | Shows the series of the asset. This property shows automatically if the
addressing information is valid. This property applies to Allen-Bradley E300 Overload Relay, Allen-Bradley Logix
5000 Controller, Allen-Bradley MicroLogix Controller, Allen-Bradley MobileView,
Allen-Bradley PanelView, Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus, Allen-Bradley PLC-5
Controller, Allen-Bradley SLC 500 Controller, RA Drive, Allen-Bradley PowerFlex
Drive, and FactoryTalk Optix Runtime (Embedded). This property is only retrievable

if process device capability was activated back then. Starting from FactoryTalk

Location | Shows information about the asset's location in your facility. |
Serial Number | Shows the asset's serial number. |
Upload Directory | Shows the directory in the robot from which files will be uploaded during a
Disaster Recovery operation. This property applies to ABB Robots. |
Backup - Arguments (<ARD>) | Shows the Arguments (<ARD>) for Backup or Backup and Compare schedules. This property applies to Custom Devices. |
Backup - Backup Location | Shows the name for a backup folder, a path to a backup folder, or a path to an
existing backup file. This property applies to Custom Devices. |
Backup - Custom Configuration | Shows the configuration information of the custom devices to which you are
connected. This property applies to Custom Devices. |
Compare - Arguments (<ARD>) | Shows the Arguments (<ARD>) for comparing operations. This property applies to Custom Devices. |
Compare - Report Location | Shows the file name or path to store the compare report. This property applies to Custom Devices. |
Post Backup - Arguments (<ARD>) | Shows the Arguments (<ARD>) for post backup operations. This property applies to Custom Devices. |
Properties Configuration | Shows the number of extended properties, which could be configured by the
Options dialog: Extended Properties or configured for a single
device.This property applies to Custom Devices. |
Controller I/O Listing | Shows the number of configured I/O modules associated with the Allen-Bradley
Logix 5000 Controller, Allen-Bradley MicroLogix Controller, Allen-Bradley PLC-5
Controller, or Allen-Bradley SLC 500 Controller device. |
