PT. Greenfields Indonesia is one of Indonesia’s largest dairy producers and a major fresh milk brand across Southeast Asia. It operates integrated dairy farms and milk processing facilities producing fresh milk, UHT milk, yoghurt, cheese and cream products.
The company was seeing strong demand for its dairy products and needed to modernize its systems to meet this growing demand. It required a solution that could deliver high performance while complying with internationally recognized standards for machinery systems and safety. A key constraint was that its palletizing process was only semi-automated, resulting in slower output and limitations in achieving required cycle times.
PT. Greenfields worked with Rockwell Automation and PT. Unggul Semesta, an engineering and automation specialist, to implement a smart palletizing solution to improve production efficiency and output. PT. Unggul Semesta created an integrated architecture solution using several of our solutions.

To support expansion and meet increasing demand, PT. Unggul Semesta needed to increase PT. Greenfields’ production capacity while addressing the limitations of its existing semi-automated palletizing process.
At the same time, the company required a high-performance system designed to maximize productivity while minimizing downtime. In addition, there was a need to confirm that the solution complied with internationally recognized standards such as ISO 12100 and ISO 10218 for machinery systems and safety, while maintaining flexibility for integration and future scalability.
Smart, Integrated Palletizing for Performance and Visibility
PT. Unggul Semesta partnered with Rockwell Automation to implement a smart palletizing solution designed to improve efficiency, safety and operational visibility.

At the core of the solution is an Integrated Architecture® that combines control, motion and visualization into a single, unified system. GuardLogix® enables both machine control and safety functions within one platform, while PowerFlex® drives deliver precise and efficient motion control for palletizing operations. FactoryTalk® View and PanelView™ provide real-time visibility into machine performance, enabling operators to monitor production and machine health through intuitive dashboards.
The smart palletizing machine was seamlessly integrated into the existing packaging line, delivering smoother operations without introducing bottlenecks. By leveraging IoT-enabled connectivity, the system provides real-time production data and insights, allowing for improved decision-making and proactive maintenance.
Rockwell Automation’s role as a technology consultant and partner helped to deliver a solution which was not only technically robust, but also aligned with Greenfields’ long-term digitalization goals.
Following implementation of the smart palletizing solution, PT. Greenfields achieved increased production to support rising market demand, alongside improvements in cycle times and overall operational efficiency through the reduction of manual processes. The integrated system delivered measurable safety improvements, including reduced incident risk and zone-based protection, while maintaining high operational efficiency.
The solution also enabled real-time visibility for production dashboards and machine health status, and established a digital foundation connecting control, motion and data into a single platform, supporting the company’s move towards a more digital manufacturing environment.
