Connect to Remote I/O

Remote I/O refers to I/O modules that are not in the local chassis and connect to the controller via a communication network. There are several families of I/O modules that are remote from the controller:
  • Compact 5000® I/O
     modules in a remote bank using a 5069-AEN2TR or similar adapter
  • 1756 I/O in a remote chassis via a Network Bridge Module
  • Distributed I/O families such as 5034
    PointMax®
     I/O or 5094
    FLEX 5000®
     I/O.
  • On-Machine™
     I/O families such as
    ArmorBlock®
     I/O
The controller supports the use of remote I/O via these networks:
  • EtherNet/IP™
  • ControlNet®
  • DeviceNet®
  • Universal remote I/O
