Download the Project

Download the project only to the primary controller. When the secondary controller is synchronized, the system automatically crossloads the project to the secondary controller.

Reasons for Disqualification Upon Project Download

A qualified redundant chassis pair can become disqualified upon a project download for the following reasons:
  • The controller is not enabled for redundancy in the new project.
  • The new project is configured for Logix SIS and the safety signature cannot be validated.
  • The
    EtherNet/IP™
     mode of the controller in the new project does not match the
    EtherNet/IP™
     mode of the controller in the current project, as described in the following section.

EtherNet/IP Mode Changes

Project downloads change the
EtherNet/IP™
 mode of the controller as follows:
  • If you download a project that is configured for redundancy to a controller that is not already configured for redundancy, the
    EtherNet/IP™
     mode of the controller changes to Redundancy Crossload mode intended for front port crossloading, even if front port crossloading is not enabled. A warning appears to notify you of this change. The change to the
    EtherNet/IP™
     mode of the controller causes the controller to become disqualified and perform a reset. The project download resumes after the controller reset is complete.

  • If you download a project that is not configured for redundancy, the
    EtherNet/IP™
     mode of the controller changes to the mode set in the application: Dual-IP or Linear/DLR.
