Rename a data log

By default, the initial data log added to a
View Designer
 project is named DataLog_001. This number is incremented when creating a new data log with the same name. A project can contain up to three data logs.
Rename a data log to make the name that reflects its purpose, content, or targeted use. Names within a folder must be unique and are not case sensitive. For example, Monthly_DataLog and monthly_datalog are considered identical names.
To rename a data log
  1. In the
    Project Explorer
    , expand the
    Data Logs
    folder.
  2. Select the data log once to select the item.
  3. Select the data log again and type the new name.
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • Right-clicking a data log, selecting
      Rename
      , and entering a new name also renames the data log.
    • Change the name of the data log through the
      Name
      box in the
      Properties
      window of the data log.
    • Changing the name of the data log causes previously collected data to no longer appear in the data log when the project downloads again.
