Universal Credits
Universal Credits are a type of time-bound entitlement used when a user needs to access a service for a finite amount of time. They are valid for one year and cannot be refunded or canceled. Universal Credits allow you to access a needed service and only pay for what you use. They are purchased through the View Entitlements section of FactoryTalk Hub or through Hybris.
Universal Credits:
- are shared across the FactoryTalk Hub organization
- expire one year after purchase
- are consumable, that is, once a credit is used or spent it is no longer available
- cannot be returned
- are unallocated when purchased - the user assigns them to an organization
- you can unallocate Universal Credits that you have previously allocated if they have not been consumed
- credits can be split across organizations
After a Universal Credits Entitlement is allocated to an organization, no more credits can be consumed from that allocation when it expires. Any remaining unused credits are removed from the organization balance. Universal credits are consumed in reverse order of expiration date. Therefore, the credits are consumed first from the entitlement that is nearest its expiration. If two or more entitlements are scheduled to expire on the same day, no order preference is given.
Each product within the FactoryTalk Hub organization has a defined meter rate of consumption, for example, two credits per hour. The time period of use can be defined in seconds, minutes, hours, or days, and are calculated to the nearest 0.01 of a credit. When your balance is low, a quote is automatically created for purchasing more credits. You can run negative balances in some cases.
