Configure Counter State in Communication Fault Mode

You can configure the counter to specific states when a connection fault occurs, that is, the connection between the controller and the module breaks.

Counter Behavior Immediately After a Connection Fault

When the connection between a controller and module breaks, the counter can behave in the following ways, depending on how the Counter State in Fault Mode parameter is configured:
  • Continue counting – Default
  • Hold its last state
  • Transition to a user-defined value
You can choose to reset the stored count value when the module when is in Communication Fault Mode.
The counter remains at that state value until the connection to the controller is re-established.

When Communication Fails in Program Mode

When communication fails in Program Mode, the counter can behave in the following ways, depending on how you configure the When Communication Fails in Program Mode parameter:
  • Leave counter in Program Mode state – It causes the counter to behave as defined by the Counter State in Program Mode selection.
  • Change counter to Communication Fault state – It causes the counter to behave as defined by the Counter State in Communication Fault Mode selection.
