Create trends visualizing the data transfer
In this exercise, you will choose a data point that you have added to the data transfer, and you will create a trend that displays this point data from both
FactoryTalk Historian ME
and FactoryTalk Historian SE
.To create a trend visualizing the data transfer between
FactoryTalk Historian ME
and FactoryTalk Historian SE
TIP:
The following steps may vary depending on your version of Microsoft Excel.
- Open Microsoft Excel.
- Select the cell in which you want the trend chart to appear.
- Click thePI DataLinktab.TIP:For details, see the prerequisites in Create trends with the FactoryTalk Historian DataLink Add-in.
- In theTag Functionsgroup, clickInsert Trend.TheTrend Add-in Wizarddialog box appears.
- On theDefine the Tracespage, clickData from PI.
- In theServer namebox, type the IP address of your module, or select a module from the list.
- Next to theTag namebox, click
.TheTag Searchdialog box appears. - Click thePI Serverbox.TheMulti-Server Pick Listdialog box appears.
- Choose the FactoryTalk Historian SE server and the Historian module for which you have enabled the data transfer:
- Click the IP address of your FactoryTalk Historian SE server, and then hold down the Ctrl key while you click the IP address of your Historian module.
- ClickOK.
- Configure your search criteria, and then clickSearch.
- There will be two matches for the same point listed: one from FactoryTalk Historian ME, and the other from FactoryTalk Historian SE.The name of the point transferred to FactoryTalk Historian SE is prefixed with the Historian module name. In this example, the Historian module name isA0004B97-FTHME.
- Click a point data from your Historian module, and then hold down the Ctrl key while you click the same point transferred to the FactoryTalk Historian SE server.
- ClickOK.The selected data points appear in the right pane of theDefine the Tracespage.
- Select the check boxes next to the data point names, and then clickNext.TheSpecify the time rangepage appears.
- In theStart TimeandEnd Timecheckboxes, set the time range from which the data will be displayed.When setting theEnd Timevalue, take into account the fact that the data from the FactoryTalk Historian SE server will appear with a slight delay.In this example, we set theEnd Timevalue to 5 minutes (*-5m).
- Select theEnable updatescheck box, and then clickNext.
- In theTrend title (optional)box, type a name for your trend.
- ClickFormat.ThePI Trend Control Propertiesdialog box appears.
- Select theVertical Scaleproperty.
- On theOptionstab, underScale:
- In theFormatlist, selectGeneral.
- In thePositionlist, selectOutside Left.
- ClickOK.
- In theTrend Add-in Wizardwindow, clickFinish.The trend chart appears in your Excel spreadsheet.The trend displays the following data:
- the data from FactoryTalk Historian SE.
- the data from FactoryTalk Historian ME.The module data point is a real-time display, while theFactoryTalk Historian SEdata point lags by a couple of minutes. However, the data is identical.
