Define search criteria
The following search rules apply to all the pages on the
View Data
tab.To search data
- Define your search criteria in the boxes at the top of the page.
- ClickSearch.The information specified in the search criteria is displayed.
Using the asterisk ("*") in the search boxes
The asterisk that appears in the search boxes functions as a wildcard value. You can use it to:
- Represent a contiguous series of characters (for example: *xxx*, *xxx, or xxx*).
- Return data that meet all conditions for the given search box.
- Return ALL points in the system. To do so, leave the asterisk in all the search boxes.
To define search criteria
- In thePoint Namebox, type the point name criteria such as the full name, partial name, or wildcard value for the data you would like to search.
- In thePoint Sourcebox, type the point source for the current data.The point source is the base attribute that identifies the interface or other scanning software responsible for providing data for the associated point. Common point sources depend upon your environment. They include the following:Point sourceDescriptionFTMEThe default point source for FactoryTalk Historian ME.TThe Totalizer utility subsystem.CThe Performance Equation subsystem.
- In thePoint Typelist, select the point type.Point types include:Point typeDescriptionInt16A 16-bit integer value.Int32A 32-bit integer value.Float16A 16-bit floating point value.Float32A 32-bit floating point value.Float64A 64-bit floating point value.StringA string value.DigitalA digital value.TimestampA timestamp value.
- In theScan Ratelist, select a scan rate.The scan rate is the rate (in seconds) at which the data is collected.
- In theArchivinglist, select one of the following options to display points with a specific archive bit setting:OptionDescriptionOnReturns points where the archive is set to On.OffReturns points where the archive is set to Off.Asterisk (*)Returns points that meet either condition (On or Off) and meet the other search conditions.
- In theScanlist, select one of the following options to search for points with a specific scan bit setting:OptionDescriptionOnReturns points where the scan bit is set to On.OffReturns points where the scan bit is set to Off.Asterisk (*)Returns points that meet either condition (On or Off) and meet the other search conditions.
- ClickSearchto initiate the tag search.The search populates thePointstable with the following information for each data point:ItemDescriptionSelect column checkboxTo create a specific list of points to view, check the box in theSelectcolumn for a specific tag or set of tags, then mark theSelected Rowsoption.NameThe name of the data point.ValueThe most recently returned value of the data point.TimestampThe time that the last value was returned for the specified data point.TypeThe data type for the listed point. If the point is of Boolean or String type, no checkbox will be displayed in theSelectcolumn.
