Unassign a device

Unassign a device to remove its association with a parent device. When you unassign a device, all its connections are removed from the project and the device moves to the Unassigned folder as an existing device.
TIP: Any changes made to devices while online will only impact the offline project.
TIP: To reassign a device, see Add an existing device.
Unassign devices from the
Devices
explorer.
  1. On the explorer bar, select Devices Icon
    Devices
    .
  2. In
    Devices
     explorer, right-click the device and select
    Unassign
    .
    Select
    Unassign
     in the confirmation dialog. The device moves to the
    Unassigned
     folder.
NOTE: When you unassign a device, the devices assigned to it become unassigned, and on rack optimized devices, the device connection type reverts to the default setting, Data.
