Challenge

Ready to Further Modernize with Plex UX

McGregor Metal, a metal stamping company based in Springfield, OH, has been a long-time Plex user since 2005. As a provider of metal stamping and some assembly solutions, McGregor has used Plex ERP and Plex MES across three separate Process Control Networks (PCNs) to streamline and digitize their operations. After nearly two decades of success, McGregor is now ready to transition to the Plex UX interface and further modernize their manufacturing processes.

While McGregor had used Plex to automate many plant floor processes, they were looking to transition to a more modern user experience. Additionally, the company wanted to streamline operations with deeper automation, including robotics integration and self-printing solutions. Finally, they wanted to protect the future of the company by investing in long-term scalability and efficiency in an increasingly complex market.

Solution

Preparing for a Plex UX Transition

Currently, McGregor is embarking on a phased plan to migrate to Plex UX and integrate additional smart manufacturing capabilities. The three-year roadmap includes transitioning to Plex UX, continuing to leverage Plex MES A&O, and expanding their use of automation.

Result

A Plex UX Transition that will Build on Decades of Success

Since implementing Plex in 2005, McGregor has experienced continued success. For example, the company has fully digitized its operations, moving from legacy systems to a connected, smart manufacturing environment. Second, McGregor has optimized processes to improve workforce connectivity and overall efficiency. Finally, with the upcoming transition to Plex UX, the company is set to sustain its competitive edge through enhanced automation and modernized ERP/MES solutions. “We had a lot of success with Plex in 2005 and we want to continue to grow that with Plex UX,” says McGregor’s Director of IT Chad Walls.
