Communication between components that match in a redundant chassis pair makes redundancy possible. In a redundant chassis pair, one chassis operates as a primary chassis and the other as a secondary chassis.

The redundant chassis pair is connected to other system components, such as one or more remote I/O chassis or human machine interfaces (HMIs).
