How to register a router

Access the
Device Registration
Tool to register a device to a domain.

Device registration

You can access the
Device Registration
Tool as follows:
  1. Access the
    FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager
    and select
    Explorer
    Domain view
    .
  2. Click on the
    circled plus
icon next to a folder: a context menu will appear.
  3. Select
    Add device
    Add device locally
    or
    Add device remotely
    .
    NOTE:
    The
    Add Device Locally
parameter refers to routers registration only.
    The
    Add Device Remotely
parameter refers to panels and Windows devices registration only.
    NOTE: When clicking on
    Device registration
, a dialog window will show up asking for permission to open the
    Device registration
Tool. Prior to confirming, flag the
    Always allow
checkbox to prevent this message from prompting again during this session. If you use a different computer or a different browser, this message will prompt again.
  4. Enter the device credentials in the Tool.
  5. Click
    Next
    .
  6. The
    Routers found
list displays the routers in your domain that have a password matching the one specified. The
    Devices found
lists display other devices, such as panels and computers registered to your domain that have a password matching the one specified.
NOTE: Using a password strategy that links password assignment to configuration stage can be an efficient way of provisioning devices in your environment. After configuration is complete, use unique passwords for each device.
    NOTE:
When setting up Stratix 4300 Remote Access routers, the username of the router is always
    admin
and cannot be changed. The default password is
    admin
and shall be changed during the initial configuration.
  7. Select a device from the list and click on
    Register
to open the configuration pages for that device.
NOTE: You might be required to authenticate to the
    Device Registration
Tool prior continuing with the device registration.
  8. The newly connected device appears below the other devices listed in the left pane of
    Explorer
    Domain view
    .
