MILWAUKEE, February 19, 2021 /3BL Media/ – Rockwell Automation announced it will donate $20,000 to support the American Red Cross for relief efforts helping communities in southern states still recovering from last week’s winter storm.

According to the Red Cross, roughly 594,000 people are still without power across Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, and Oregon. As many as 13 million people in Texas are without safe water, and in some areas, boil water advisories are in place.

“Our thoughts are with the individuals affected by these winter storms, especially those from across our Rockwell Automation family,” said Patricia Contreras, vice president, Public Affairs. “We hope this gift will strengthen the relief efforts in place and help more people recover as quickly as possible.”

As of Friday, millions remain without consistent power and/or access to water. The Red Cross, in collaboration with local community organizations, opened 160 shelters and warming centers in five states, including Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia.

“Last night, more than 2,000 people stayed in emergency shelters, where our teams have been working 24/7 to offer cots, blankets, water and ready-to-eat meals,” said Mark Thomas, Chief Executive Officer for the American Red Cross of Wisconsin. “We are grateful to organizations like Rockwell Automation who have stepped up to help so many communities in this time of need.”
