The evolution of sustainability and ESG as a priority for manufacturers continues. Over the last year, we’ve witnessed a shift to seeing sustainability programs as a way to maximize efficiencies. This reveals that global manufacturers are seeing the benefits captured in operational improvement capabilities and the impact to the bottom line from their sustainability initiatives, but this is only part of the story.
The proliferation of new or strengthened regulatory frameworks, such as the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), and Taxonomy Delegated Act is elevating the need for digitalization. The manufacturing sector recognizes this along with increasing pressure from consumers to incorporate sustainability and ESG considerations into operations. Our surveys from the last two years reveal that over 95% of respondents reported the existence of policies or programs, whether formal or informal.
This is the second event in our three-part webinar series celebrating the release of the 2023 State of Smart Manufacturing Report.
