Use
FactoryTalk® Optix™
with
PlantPAx®

PlantPAx®
is the distributed control system (DCS) that
Rockwell Automation®
offers for process industries.
PlantPAx®
integrates all HMI, controls, optimization, engineering, and inputs/outputs into a common system architecture.
PlantPAx®
system 5.40 and later supports
FactoryTalk® Optix™
target devices (
OptixPanel™
Standard operator panel or
ASEM™
6300P Panel PC) for use as local/field panels where operators require immediate access to localized data.
In a typical
PlantPAx®
system, operator workstations (OWS) running
FactoryTalk® View SE
client software provide centralized alarming, historian access, and control-room operations.
FactoryTalk® Optix™
local/field panel target devices connect to
ControlLogix®
process controllers via
EtherNet/IP™
. The controller handles process execution, alarming logic, and state management. You do not need to modify
PlantPAx®
controller logic or supervisory architectures to adopt
FactoryTalk® Optix™
target devices as local/field panels.
FactoryTalk® Optix™
target devices that operate inside the control network follow
PlantPAx®
security, including role-based access, authentication, and secure communications.
IMPORTANT:
PlantPAx®
Process Library v5.20 and v5.30 have Objects and Faceplates for
FactoryTalk® Optix™
. See the Process Library release notes for more information. Process Library v4.10 does not have content for
FactoryTalk® Optix™
.
