Open a routine

Open a routine to change or remove components. In an explorer, ladder diagram routines are preceded by Ladder Icon. Structured Text routines are preceded by Structured Text Icon.
  1. On the explorer bar, select System Icon
    System
    .
  2. In
    System
    , expand the
    FactoryTalk Smart Object
     and program.
  3. Double-click the routine to open. The editor for the routine opens.
    TIP:
    • To open a ladder diagram routine from the
      Execution
      explorer, in
      Execution
      , expand the task to select the routine.
    • The title bar of the editor displays the scope of the routine and the routine name. Hover over a tab to see the full name of the routine.
    • If the routine is a controller-scoped, "Controller" appears on the title bar. If the routine is not controller-scoped, the name of the program appears on the title bar. To open a controller-scoped routing from the
      Execution
      explorer, expand the task and program and then double-click the routine.
    • Depending on the state of the routine, an additional character may appear in the title. For example, * indicates that the routine is dirty or was modified.
