Connecting to an HMI server from an SE Client
Connecting to an HMI server from a
FactoryTalk View SE
Client requires the
following prerequisites:- A client and a server activation license must be installed and available
- On the client (remote) machine, aFactoryTalk View SEClient configuration file must exist
- On the server there must be aFactoryTalk View SEapplication
- The FactoryTalk Directory must be configured and available
- The user logging on must be in theFactoryTalk ViewRuntime Security accounts list
- The user logging on must be allowed to run applications on theFactoryTalk View SEClient
When you install
FactoryTalk View SE
software, the All Users
account is
added automatically to the FactoryTalk View SE
Runtime Security user accounts list.
This gives all users full access to FactoryTalk View SE
applications at runtime,
without needing to log in.If FactoryTalk Security has been used to apply additional security to an application at the FactoryTalk Directory, these additional conditions must be met:
- the user must be set up in FactoryTalk Security with the permissions required to open and run the client
- the user attempting to log on must be added to theFactoryTalk ViewRuntime user accounts list in the application the client is attempting to log on to, and must have been granted the appropriate FactoryTalk Security permissions
If the authentication fails, a message is displayed for the user that gives them the option
of canceling the attempt to connect to the application on the HMI server, or attempting to
log on manually. If they choose to retry logging on, the
FactoryTalk View
Login
dialog box is presented.
TIP:
When a Windows-linked user attempts to log on, they must provide their domain name with the user name if the Windows-linked user is on a different domain than the Windows Desktop user, using this syntax:
domainName\userName
