LEDs visual feedback

Routers are fitted with LEDs located on their front panel to provide visual feedback about device status and operation.
The most commonly used LEDs among routers or gateway devices are:
The
reset
LED is
amber
or
red
(depending on the router model).
The
power
LED is
green
.
The
run/stop
LED is
green/red
.
The
remote connection
LED is
green
.
The
COM Rx/COM Tx
LEDs are
green
.
The following behaviors are defined:
  • Steady lighted
  • Blinking
  • Continuous sequences
of blink codes with short pauses in between report a
    status
  • Single sequences
    of blink codes report
    events

Status
Description
Power
Steady green
FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager
started and is connected to the server.
Steady red
FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager
is being executed but it is not connected to the server.
Blinking green
FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager
started and its connection to the server is in progress.
Blinking red
FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager
started and a server connection is being attempted but without success, since any domain association is missing.
Run/Stop
Sequence of 2 red blinks
FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager
tried to establish a connection attempt to a different domain than the one of the initial registration (see Protection against domain change).
2 single green blinks
Configuration from USB stick successfully completed.
2 single red blinks
User credentials for domain access are invalid.
3 single green blinks
Start/end of the router update procedure from USB stick (see Updates). During the entire updating procedure, the LED continues to flash alternately red and green.
3 single red blinks
The router updating procedure from USB stick has failed.
4 single red blinks
Factory setting restore started.
NOTE: During the restoring factory settings procedure on RK2x RM2x DM2x routers, the LED continues to flash alternatively red and green. At the end of the procedure, a sequence of red blinks indicate an error during the restoring process.
5 single red blinks
The Runtime execution error: a system restart will follow.
6 single red blinks
The USB stick data format is not correct or an unknown error occurred.
Remote connection
Steady lighted
It activates when at least one
FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager
is connected to the router, otherwise it is deactivated.
COM Rx COM Tx
Status and external commands
These LEDs are directly connected to the Rx/Tx serial port signals that show traffic going through network.

Status
Description
Off
The modem did not detect any SIM card.
Green low frequency blinking
The modem detected a network signal.
Green high frequency blinking
The modem is exchanging data.
Steady red
The modem did not detect any network signal.
Blinking red
Malfunction or incorrect configuration (for example, SIM in error status / incorrect PIN)
LED Wi-Fi
Status
Description
Off
The Wi-Fi board is disabled.
Green low frequency blinking
The Wi-Fi board is connected to the network (
Adapter
mode) or is in
Access Point
mode. In both scenarios there is no data exchange.
Green high frequency blinking
The Wi-Fi board is connected and is exchanging data.
