Configuring HART Pass-through

Use
HART Pass-through
 to send a HART message directly to a field device, passing through the HART device. Use
HART Pass-through
 to send a Vendor Specific command or by Asset Management software, such as
FactoryTalk AssetCentre
, to collect data from the HART field device beyond the data automatically collected by the device.
The devices perform these three distinct operations:
  • Convert to or from 4-20 mA analog signals to digital numeric values in engineering units used in the Logix controller.
  • Automatically collect dynamic process data from the connected HART field device, such as Temperature, pressure, flow, or valve position.
  • Bridge HART messages from CIP clients to the HART Field Device using a mechanism called pass-through.
