Overcurrent Detection

The module includes built-in protection against overcurrent conditions caused by mis-wiring. Common mis-wiring scenarios include:
  • Sensor power (24V) V+n is shorted to RTNn at the terminal screws.
    During this state:
    • SSVOverCurrent
      and
      SSVOverCurrentTimestamp
      appear in Channel Diagnostics.
    • Overrange Fault, Channel Fault, and Uncertain status displays in the input tag.
  • The module is externally powered and input current causes an overrange condition.
    During this state:
    • Overrange Fault, Channel Fault, and Uncertain status displays in the input tag.
When such conditions are detected, the module automatically limits current to protect internal components.
NOTE: The module uses internal current limiting to safeguard hardware.
