The
General
tab includes these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Type
Displays the type and description of the module being created (read only).
Vendor
Displays the vendor of the module being created (read only).
Parent
Displays the name of the parent module.
Name
Enter the name of the module.
The name must use the IEC-61131 name standard. This is a required field and must be completed; otherwise you receive an error message when you exit this tab. An error message is also displayed if a duplicate name is detected, or if you enter an invalid character. If the maximum name length allowed by the software is exceeded, the extra character(s) are ignored.
Description
Enter a description for the module here, up to 128 characters. You can use any printable character in this field. If the maximum name length allowed by the software is exceeded, the extra character(s) are ignored.
Slot
Select the controller slot.
Safety Network Number
Enter a 48-bit number to prevent the acceptance of connection requests that have been misdirected by an intervening bridge module. Note that safety modules connected to the same bridge module need not be on the same safety network; they may have different safety network numbers.
Choose from the following two formats.
  • Time-based - the safety network number is generated based on the creation date and time (to the millisecond) of the module.
  • Manual - you enter a number between 1 and 9999, per network type.
This field appears dimmed in the Hard Run, Safety Locked, and Safety Signature modes.
Series
Displays the Series of the module.
Revision
Displays the major and minor revision numbers of your module.
The revision is divided into the major revision and minor revision. The major revision is used to indicate the revision of the interface to the module. Valid values are in the range from 0...127. The minor revision is used to indicate the firmware revision. Valid values are in the range from 0...255, with 1 being the default value.
Electronic Keying
Displays the keying option for your module during initial configuration.
Configured By
Displays the controller used to configure the module.
Input Data
Displays the type of input data for the module. Available options depend on the module type.
Output Data
Displays the type of output data for the module. Available options depend on the module type.
Output Mode
Displays the type of output data for the module. Available options depend on the module type.
