MILWAUKEE, December 16, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK) recently sponsored two of southeastern Wisconsin’s marquee events advocating for racial justice and education. Last week, Rockwell was a presenting co-sponsor for the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin’s (YWCA SEW) Evening to Promote Racial Justice, and last month, Rockwell Chairman and CEO Blake Moret co-chaired the Milwaukee Urban League’s annual Black and White Ball.
“We are honored to be a long-standing partner of YWCA Southeast Wisconsin and a supporter of events such as this, because we believe deeply in the critical importance, now more than ever, of their mission to build a more just community,” said Rockwell’s Patricia Contreras, vice president of Public Affairs. “This event not only helped advance much-needed understanding, but also inspired the work of building equity together. We salute YWCA SEW for bringing this and much more to our community.”
The YWCA SEW’s 17th annual event featured keynote speaker Sarah Lewis, PhD, a Harvard University art historian. Rockwell’s Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, Bobby Griffin, also provided remarks. Griffin is a member of the YWCA SEW’s board of directors.
“It’s important for companies like ours to not only foster DEI within our walls, but also to support and partner with organizations that impact the communities where we live and work,” Griffin said. “Through their tireless work and dedication to racial justice and to the empowerment of women, the YWCA SEW is making a difference and having an impact.”
Rockwell was also a presenting sponsor of the Milwaukee Urban League’s 36th annual Black and White Ball held November 6. The Ball is the nonprofit’s largest fundraising event of the year and raised $600,000 to support its programs in education, employment, advocacy, and economic development serving Milwaukee’s African American community.
“The work that Milwaukee Urban League does for our community is always important, but never has this work been so critical as our nation and community continue to heal as we create a brighter future together,” said Rockwell’s Moret who co-chaired the Black and White Ball with Cecelia Gore, executive director of the Brewers Community Foundation.
