The modules provide local, in-chassis safety I/O for GuardLogix 5580 controllers, eliminating the need for adapters that require panel space and additional configuration time. If desired, the modules can also be used for distributed safety I/O.
The modules offer enhanced performance and diagnostics compared to other safety I/O solutions. This can help designers build smarter machines. For example, faster safety reaction times can help improve productivity by allowing users to more easily identify faults and by shortening the distance between a device and a hazard.
The modules also offer design flexibility because they can be used with all other standard ControlLogix I/O modules.
The ControlLogix CIP Safety I/O modules are TÜV certified for use in safety applications up to SIL 3 and PLe, Cat. 4. They can be selected with conformal coating options for added protection against environmental stresses.
