Challenge
Need for agile, high-performance packaging automation solutions
As consumer markets become increasingly dynamic, packaging manufacturers require production lines that can quickly adapt to changing SKUs, pack sizes, and container formats without compromising throughput, reliability, or maintainability.
To address these requirements, Clearpack needed to evolve beyond traditional machine-centric designs and develop integrated, software-driven packaging solutions. The goal was to seamlessly connect filling, case packing, shrink wrapping, palletizing, and end-of-line traceability systems within a unified architecture.
As a global OEM serving customers across India, Southeast Asia, China, the Middle East, and Africa, Clearpack sought a technology ecosystem that could support standardization, remote diagnostics, and lifecycle services across multiple regions.
Managing separate vendors for control, motion, and safety systems added complexity to machine integration, commissioning, maintenance, and future upgrades. This fragmented approach often resulted in longer deployment timelines, higher engineering costs, and reduced flexibility when scaling automation across diverse packaging lines.
Solution
Co-Innovation to develop next-generation packaging systems
To address these challenges, Clearpack collaborated with Rockwell Automation in a co-innovation initiative focused on designing and delivering advanced packaging machines and integrated production lines.
The collaboration combines Clearpack's expertise in machine design and packaging applications with Rockwell Automation's specialization in control, motion, safety, and visualization technologies.
Advanced robotic case packing
Clearpack developed high-performance top-load pick-and-place case packers capable of handling a wide range of products, including bottles, cans, jars, cartons, pouches, and bags.
These systems incorporate SCARA, Delta, collaborative, and industrial robots, integrated with Rockwell Automation controllers and safety technologies to deliver the flexibility and speed required for modern packaging operations.
Integrated control and safety architecture
By leveraging Rockwell Automation's Integrated Architecture® platform, GuardLink® safety technology, and EtherNet/IP™ connectivity, Clearpack attained precise multi-axis coordination, simplified machine wiring, and enhanced remote troubleshooting capabilities.
This standardized architecture enabled the deployment of high-speed, flexible packaging machines that consistently deliver more reliable performance in demanding manufacturing environments.
Shrink and secondary packaging solutions
Clearpack's portfolio of overwrap shrink wrappers and monoblock automatic shrink-wrapping machines is built on Rockwell Automation PLCs, drives, motion control, and safety systems.
The Integrated Architecture® provides synchronized machine operation, improved line responsiveness, and high system availability while reducing overall engineering complexity and simplifying maintenance.
High-precision liquid filling
For liquid packaging applications, Clearpack integrated its high-speed filling solutions with Rockwell Automation control and instrumentation technologies to enable more precise dosing, batch traceability, and consistent product quality.
Rockwell's control platforms enable seamless coordination between filling operations and downstream conveying systems, helping to improve accuracy, reduce variation, and optimize overall line performance.
Result
Flexible, connected, and serviceable packaging lines
Through its collaboration with Rockwell Automation, Clearpack enhanced its ability to deliver highly flexible packaging solutions capable of handling a broad range of products and packaging formats.
The integrated control, motion, and safety architecture provides customers with improved throughput, greater filling accuracy, increased uptime, and simplified machine commissioning and maintenance.
“Our partnership with Rockwell Automation has played a key role in advancing our packaging automation capabilities.
