Differences between RSSecurity Server and FactoryTalk Security

The differences between RSSecurity Server and
FactoryTalk Security
are detailed below.
Support for Resource Groups and Action Groups
RSSecurity Server is no longer a supported feature.
FactoryTalk Security
provides the capability to create groups of resources and groups of actions. You can then configure security for those groups.
Action groups or Resource groups are imported from RSSecurity Server in different ways, depending on whether you are importing them into a system running FactoryTalk Automation Platform version 2.00 or
FactoryTalk Services Platform
version 2.10. To determine what version of the FactoryTalk platform you are running, see Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
  • If you are importing action groups or resource groups into FactoryTalk Automation Platform, version 2.00, you are prompted to import action groups as individual actions, and you are prompted to import resource groups as individual resources.
  • If you are importing action groups or resource groups into
    FactoryTalk Services Platform
, version 2.10, you are prompted to choose a destination application or area for the action groups or resource groups. When action groups are imported, the action groups are maintained. The action groups or resource groups inherit the security settings of the application or area where they are located.
