Configuring the Controller's User Protocol
NOTE:
Logix Designer versions 37 and later do not support ASCII Serial Port instructions (AWT, AWA, ARD, ARL, ABL, ACB, AHL, and ACL) and do not support controllers with serial ports. This topic applies only to Logix Designer versions 36 and earlier.
To configure the controller's user protocol:
- From the User Protocol pull-down menu, choose ASCII.
- In the Read/Write Buffer Size field, enter the maximum size (in bytes) of the data array you plan to send and receive.
- In the Termination Character 1 and Termination Character 2 fields, enter the character you wish to use to designate the end of a line.
- In the Append Character 1 and Append Character 2 fields, enter the character you wish to append to the end of a line.
- Check the XON/XOFF option if you wish to regulate the flow of incoming data.
- Check the Echo Mode option if you wish to echo data back to the device from which it was sent.
- Choose a Delete mode.Choose from:

To access the Controller Properties dialog box, from the Controller Organizer, right click the controller and choose
Properties.
