Numeric input object at runtime

The numeric input object settings are defined in the
FactoryTalk View
when designing an application in a
FactoryTalk View Studio
.
Numeric input object
At runtime a numeric input object lets the operator type a value that will be written to a tag in an external device or a tag database. The numeric information must be entered in the format specified by the
Regional and Language Options
in the
Windows
Control Panel.
If you specify
Maximum
and
Minimum
values in the Connections tab, this creates a range of values that is valid. At runtime, if a number is entered that is outside these values, the input object changes color, and an error message is logged to the Diagnostics List, and the download is canceled.
You can also use the option,
Updating tag values continuously
, to set up an input field to display a value when it is not being used to enter a value. This eliminates the need for creating both input and display objects for a single tag.
TIP:
  • If the graphic display is set up to use the on-screen keyboard, pressing
    Enter
    brings up the keypad.
  • On mobile operating systems and
    Windows
10 operating systems, the device keypad appears automatically when a numeric input object is selected.
