Parameter
Description
Mode
Defines the operating mode of the counter. There are two counters. Available options are:
  • Count/External Direction
    - The B input controls the direction of the counter. If the B input is low, that is 0, the counter increments on the rising edges of input A. If the B input is high, that is 1, the counter decrements on the rising edges of input A.
  • Count/Internal Direction
    - The status of InvertDirectionInput determines the direction of the counter. The counter increments on the rising edge of the device’s A input when InputDirectionInput is reset, that is, equals 0. The counter decrements on the rising edge of the A input when InputDirectionInput is set to 1.
  • Up/Down Pulses
    - The counter channel increments on the rising edge of pulses that are applied to input A and decrements on the rising edge of pulses that are applied to input B.
  • Quadrature X1
    - When a quadrature encoder is attached to inputs A and B, the phase relation of inputs A and B determine the count direction. If input A leads input B, the counter increments. If input B leads input A, the counter decrements.
  • Quadrature X2
    - Operates much like the X1 Quadrature Encoder except that the resolution is doubled.
  • Quadrature X4
    - Operates much like the X1 Quadrature Encoder except that the resolution is quadrupled.
