Device definition - Overview view parameters

Displays the device catalog number and type.

Enter an IEC 61131 compliant device name. If an invalid character is entered in this field, or if the name exceeds 40 characters, the software ignores the character.

Enter the description of the device. The description must be within 512 characters. If the description exceeds the maximum length, the software ignores any extra characters.

Specifies the slot number where the device resides.

Specifies the series of the device.

Specifies the major and minor firmware revisions of the device.

Reduces the possibility of using the wrong device in a control system. Available options are:

Exact Match
Compatible Module
Disable Keying

Changing the electronic keying parameters online interrupts connections to the device and any devices that are connected through the device. Connections from other controllers can also be broken.
A loss of data may occur if an I/O connection to a device is interrupted.

Determines these items for the device type you configure:

Available configuration parameters
Type of data that is transferred between the device and the controller
Members that are generated when configuration is complete
