Channels
view include these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Channel
Displays the channel number to which this configuration applies.
Disable
Determines whether the channel is disabled. Disable channels to prevent erroneous fault reporting, such as No Load or Open Wire faults, and to prevent the fault indication from the channel status indicator.
Input Type
Sets the input type for the channel. Available options are:
  • RTD
  • Thermocouple
Sensor Type
Sets the sensor type for the channel if the Input Type is RTD or Thermocouple.
Input Range
Sets the input range for the input type. Ranges vary according to the selected Input Type.
When Input Type is set to RTD and the Sensor Type is Ohms, you must determine an input range. For maximum resolution, choose the range that most closely accommodates the anticipated maximum resistance value.
When Input Type is set to RTD and the Sensor Type is not Ohms, displays the resistance range that is used by the module for optimal performance which is based on the selected RTD type.
Notch Filter
Sets the notch filter value, which attenuates the input signal at the specified frequency. Notch filter is based on what noise frequencies are present in the module’s operating environment versus any speed requirements that are needed for control.
Temperature Units
Sets the temperature unit when the Sensor Type is not set to Ohms (for RTD) and not set to mV (for Thermocouple).
Recalculate Units
Recalculates new values to the following configuration parameters in Engineering Units based on the new Scaling constants.
  • High High Limit
  • High Limit
  • Low Limit
  • Low Low Limit
  • Rate Alarm Limit
  • Deadband
TIP: This option is enabled when any of the four Scaling constants is changed.
Digital Filter
Sets the time constant for a first order lag filter that is used to smooth noise transients on the input with a range from 0...32,767 ms. When set to 0 ms, no filtering takes place.
Disable Alarms
Determines whether process alarms are generated or not.
  • If selected, the module does not generate process alarms.
  • If cleared, the module generates process alarms.
IMPORTANT: To use alarms, set the Chxx.AlarmDisable configuration tag to 1. Also, make sure that the Chxx.yyAlarmEn output tag for the same channel is set to 1.
