Add-on-Profile (AOP)
The module functionality is configured through a custom, separately-installable Add-on-Profile within RSLogix5000 Software. When a module from the RSLogix5000 Select Module dialog is added to the project tree, the following items are created in the project:
- a custom Module-Defined Data Type, and corresponding Input, Output, and Configuration Tags
- a producer/consumer IO connection using the module’s specific IO assemblies and sizes.
Updating Module Configuration
Configuration data is stored in the ControlLogix "owner” controller(s) and is sent to the module when the IO connection is initially established, when the module connection is re-established after Inhibit, and when the module is sent a Reset or Reconfigure message.
Important
: When a module has multiple "owners”, both controllers must have the same Configuration data for the module. When changing Configuration with multiple owners, the module connection must be inhibited to prevent other owners from receiving potentially erroneous data. Refer to the "Owner’s Guide” for the detailed procedures for handling multiple owners.Use of the AOP for generating the Configuration should ensure valid Configuration data. However, it’s also possible to change Configuration data manually or programmatically. If an invalid configuration is sent to the module, a connection error will occur. If the following error is received, "(16#0009) module configuration rejected: Parameter Error”’, the "Additional Fault Code” value details the configuration error. Additional Fault Code 16#0F04 indicates a "Configuration Mismatch with Multiple Owners. Refer to the module’s "Owner’s Guide” for a more detailed list of error codes, and for detailed explanations of other methods for sending Configuration data to the module including Inhibit, Reset MSG, and Reconfigure MSG.
Configuring HART Devices
HART slave devices can be configured using the unconnected messaging pass-through capability of the 1734sc-IE2/4CH. Spectrum Controls provides communication gateway software (CONNECTS) for use with any commercially available HART device management software that supports the HART multiplexer interface. The gateway software builds a database of device and I/O locations which is later used to direct commands from the device management software to the field devices. Refer to the "SC website” for additional information.
Switch Settings
There are no user-settable switches on this module. All settings are configured through software.
