Module Definition Dialog

The Module Definition dialog is used to select:
  1. The module's Revision
  2. The Electronic Keying
  3. The Fieldbus Format for the I/O connection
Major Revision
Specifies the module's Major Revision.
This field is not available when online.
Minor Revision
Specifies the module's Minor Revision. The valid range is 1..255.
This field is not available when in Run mode or when Electronic Keying is set to Disable Keying.
Electronic Keying
The electronic keying being used for the module. Electronic keying compares the module defined in the project to the installed module. If keying fails, a fault occurs.
Valid values are Exact Match, Compatible Module, and Disable Keying.
See Electronic Keying for more details.
Fieldbus Format
The data format of the I/O connection. The format may be set to one of the following values:
Fieldbus Format
Description
2-Block
The 2-Block format is useful for lean systems or older PLCs that have limitations on the number of devices and the amount of data.
8-Block
The 8-Block format provides more cyclical data to the automation system at a time (e.g. provide gross weight, net weight and tare weight all in one cycle).
5-Block LR
The 5-Block LR format provides 64-bit data for systems requiring high precision.
NOTE:
The Fieldbus Format selected in the Module Definition dialog must match the Industrial Ethernet Format configured in the IND360.
The Industrial Ethernet Format is configured in the IND360 using the device menu or via the device web page.
NOTE:
The 5-Block LR Fieldbus Format is only supported on the following Logix controllers and revisions:
  • ControlLogix 5580 (1756-L8x) V32 and later
  • CompactLogix 5380 (5069-Lx) V32 and later
