to read and follow more detailed module information, including safety recommendations.This document provides an overview of the Air Conditioner’s Remote Access Controller with EtherNet/IP protocol. The remote access capability provides the flexibility for the user to access the electronic controller of the air conditioner to change the setpoints as desired.
Function
The air conditioner’s electronic remote access controller is designed to interface with EtherNet/IP Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) through a direct connection to the EtherNet/IP network at maximum speed of 100Mbps. This provides the communication that allows the user to read and write the temperature parameter setpoints from/to the digital temperature controller remotely at anytime and anywhere within the desired network.
Features
- User programmable IP address, Subnet Masks, and Gateway address
- Unicast I/O for EtherNet/IP allows for direct point-to-point communication between two devices on a network. This communication format is more efficient when I/O data does not need to be shared between multiple target devices.
- Capability for bi-directional discrete mode communications (Class 1 Cyclic Messaging) of weight or display increments (in integer or floating point format), status, and control data between the PLC and the air conditioner
- Support for Explicit Messaging to access the air conditioner’s shared data variables
- Offers specific data integrity bits to allow the PLC to confirm that data exchange is valid
- Status LEDs to indicate communication, network and module status
Network Connectors
Refer to the installation manual for
- The wiring between the PLC and the air conditioner uses a standard twisted pair cable (CAT5) with a RJ-45 connection (not supplied).
- The cable installation procedures and specification including cable length and termination requirements are the same as recommended by Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) for the EtherNet/IP network.

Communications
The air conditioner’s remote access controller interface uses EtherNet/IP Implicit communication for receiving/transferring I/O data to a controller. CIP messages are supported from a host device over the EtherNet/IP network.
