Device Information View
Use the Device Information view to view device and status information when the device is
online.
Use the Device Information view to:
- Determine the identity of the device.
- View the device's current operational state.
- View whether the device was configured by the owner controller.
- View whether an owner controller is currently connected to the device.
- Retrieve the latest information from the device.
- Reset a device to its power-up state.
- View the protection mode of the device.
TIP:
The data in the Device Information view comes
directly from the device and is not available if the device or the project is
offline.
The Device Information view includes these parameters.

Identification | Displays information that identifies the device:

Status - Major/Minor fault | Displays whether there is a major and minor fault. Possible values include:

Status - Internal state | Displays the device's current operational state. Possible values include:
TIP:
If the wrong device is selected from
Add Device , a hexadecimal value is displayed. A textual
description of this state is only given when the provided device identity is a match
with the actual device. |
Status - Configured | Displays Yes or No indicating whether the device has been configured. |
Status - Owned | Displays Yes or No indicating whether an owner controller is currently connected to
the device. This applies only to I/O devices and does not apply to adapters, scanners, bridges,
or other communication devices. |
Status - Device identity | Displays whether the physical device matches or mismatches with the configuration
in the Overview view. Possible values include:
Tip: Device identity does not take into account the Electronic keying or Minor
revision settings in the Overview view. |
Status - Protection mode | Displays the device protection when online. The protection mode depends on the
device and may include:
Tip: When the device is offline or if a communication failure to the device occurs,
the field is blank. |
Reset Device | Initiates a reset operation on the device, which returns the device to its power-up
state by emulating the cycling of power. IMPORTANT: Resetting a device closes all connections to or through the device,
which may result in loss of control. Tip: Some devices may return an error if a reset request is attempted in certain
conditions. |
Refresh | Retrieves and updates the latest values displayed from the device. |
