Device Definition Dialog
Use the settings on the Device Definition dialog to:
- Define the device revision.
- Select the electronic keying.
- Configure the connections to the device.
Parameter | Definition |

Name | Enter an IEC 61131 compliant device name. If an invalid character is entered in this field, or if the name exceeds 40
characters, the software ignores the character. |
Description | Enter the description of the device. The description must be within 128 characters. If the description exceeds the
maximum length, the software ignores any extra characters. |
Slot | The slot number in the 5034 rack or adapter occupied by the device. (left-most slot
is 1) When the device is created, the slot number defaults to the first available slot
position. |
Major Revision | Specifies the device’s major revision. This field is not available when online unless the device supports major revision
changes while online. |
Minor Revision | Specifies device’s minor revision. This field is not available when in Run mode, or when Electronic Keying is set to
Disable Keying. |
Electronic Keying | The electronic keying used for the device. Electronic keying compares the device
defined in the project to the installed device. If keying fails, a fault occurs. Valid values are Exact Match, Compatible Module, and Disable Keying. See the Electronic Keying section below for more details. |
Connection Type | The HI5034-WS supports a single I/O connection. |
