Device identity and status banners

The device identity and device status banners are present at the top of every view of the device profile tab. The available parameters vary depending on the device:

Catalog number
Displays the catalog number of the device.
Name
Displays the device name specified in
Device definition
.
Parent
Displays the parent device name.
In the case of a controller or standalone device without a parent,
<none>
 is displayed. For a child device in the parent's local chassis or attached to the parent's EtherNet port,
Local
 is displayed.
Slot (if supported)
Displays the slot number where the device resides.
IP address (if supported)
Displays the IP address of the device.
EtherNet/IP in-cabinet address (if supported)
Displays the unique address of the downstream bus for the devices of the in-cabinet ecosystem.
Host name (if supported)
Displays the domain name where the device resides.
Channel (if supported)
Displays the channel number where the device resides.
Node (if supported)
Displays the node number where the device resides.
Device status banner
Parameter
Description
Controller connection
Displays the controller-device connection status. Possible values include:
  • Waiting
    . A connection to this device was not made due to one of these reasons related to the Parent, which is typically a bridge or adapter:
    • Parent has not yet made a connection.
    • Parent is inhibited.
    • Parent is faulted.
  • Faulted
    . The controller is unable to communicate with the device.
  • Validating
    . A transient state before connecting to the device.
  • Connecting
    . A state when establishing a connection with the device.
  • Shutting Down
    . The connections to the device are closing.
  • Inhibited
    . The connection to the device is inhibited.
  • Running
    . The device is communicating and everything is working as expected.
  • Configuring
    . The controller is configuring the device.
  • Standby
    . A transient state when shutting down the connection to the device.
  • Offline
    . You are not online with the controller.
  • Creating
    . The controller is creating the connection to the device.
  • Unknown
    . Unable to retrieve the controller-device connection status.
  • Deleted
    . The device has been deleted locally or by another session.
  • Reconfiguring
    . The configuration information is being downloaded to the device again.
  • Firmware Updating
    . Device firmware is being updated by the controller.
All these controller connection statuses, with the exception of
Offline
, are available only when the host software is connected to the controller.
Device status
Displays the device status. Possible values include:
  • OK
    .
  • Faulted
    . This status displays only when
    Controller connection
     is
    Waiting
    ,
    Faulted
    , or
    Unknown
    .
The device status field is visible only when the host software is connected to the controller.
Host-controller connection
Displays the connection status between the host software and the controller. Possible values include:
  • Connected
    . The host software is online with the controller.
  • Not Connected
    . The host software is offline with the controller.
