Routable CIP Safety System
The following example illustrates the extent of a routable
CIP Safety™
system. In this example, the system is not interconnected to anotherCIP Safety™
system through a larger, plant-wide Ethernet backbone.Routable CIP Safety System
Note the following:
- For a backplane port, an SNN is assigned to the backplane and the node address is the slot number of the device.
- For an Ethernet port, an SNN is assigned to theEtherNet/IP™network and the node address is the IP address of the device.
- For a controller in Dual-IP mode and connected to two separateEtherNet/IP™networks, they must not share SNN values because the switches can incorrectly route packets between them.
