Store a project in nonvolatile memory

Use the
Nonvolatile Memory Load/Store
dialog box to store a project in nonvolatile memory. This operation overwrites any project that is currently in the nonvolatile memory.
Before you begin:
  • Verify that the memory card is installed.
  • Secure Digital cards have a lock feature. The card must be unlocked to write data to a Secure Digital card.
    ATTENTION:
During a store, all active servo axes are turned off. Before you store a project, make sure that this will not cause any unexpected movement of an axis.
TIP:
To use
Automatic Firmware Update
with hardware modules with revision 28.011 and later, you must first extract the NVS and BIN files from the Device Management Kit (DMK) using the DMK Extraction Tool that is installed with
ControlFLASH
v13.00. Refer to the
ControlFLASH
online help for instructions on how to use the DMK Extraction Tool.
To store a project:
  1. Make all the required edits to the logic and download the project to the controller.
  2. Go online with the controller and put the controller in
    Program Mode
    .
  3. On the
    Controller Properties
    dialog box, click the
    Nonvolatile Memory
    tab, and then click
    Load/Store
    . The
    Load/Store
    button is unavailable when the:
    • Nonvolatile memory is not present in the controller.
    • Controller is locked by another user.
    • Controller has redundancy enabled.
  4. In the
    Load Image
box, select the condition under which you want to load the project back into controller (RAM) memory.
    • On Power Up
      - Load image when power to the chassis is applied or cycled.
    • On Corrupt Memory
      - Load image when there is no project in the controller and power to the chassis has been cycled or applied.
    • User Initiated
      - Project is loaded only through the
      Logix Designer
      application.
  5. In the
    Load Mode

        User Initiated
        .
      • The keyswitch must be in the REM position during the load in order for the controller to go to this mode after the load.
  6. (optional) In the
    Image Note
box, type descriptive text about the project, up to 516 characters.
  7. In the
    Automatic Firmware Update
box, select one of the following.
    • Enable and Store Files to Image
      - Enables automatic firmware updates for I/O modules in the I/O Configuration tree that have
      Electronic Keying
      set to
      Exact Match
      .
    • Disable and Delete Files from Image
      - Disables automatic firmware updates and removes files from nonvolatile memory.
    • Disable
      - Disables automatic firmware updates when no files are present in nonvolatile memory
      TIP:
      To use
      Automatic Firmware Update
with hardware modules whose firmware is provided in a DMK file format, you must first extract the NVS and BIN files from the Device Management Kit (DMK) using the DMK Extraction Tool that is installed with
