Detect and clear a duplicated IP address

Use the Ethernet configuration page to configure the Internet Protocol settings in the
FactoryTalk Design Workbench
project.
TIP:
  • A duplicated IP address occurs when the IP address is configured manually. To avoid duplicated IP addresses, use DHCP to automatically obtain the UP address.
  • When a duplicated IP address is detected, the controller ends all Ethernet communications.
  • Use the
    Detect duplicate IP address
    checkbox to turn on or turn off duplicated IP address detection.
Prerequisites
  • The controller is in
    Remote program
    mode.
To detect and clear a duplicated IP address
  1. In
    Project Organizer
    , double-click the controller to open the controller workspace.
  2. In the
    Controller
    tree, select
    Ethernet
    .
  3. On the
    Ethernet
    configuration page, do one of the following to clear the duplicated address error:
    • If you are using IPv4
      • Select
        Obtain IP address automatically using DHCP
        , or
      • Select
        Configure IP address and settings
        , and then enter a different IP address.
    • If you are using IPv6
      • Select
        Obtain IPv6 address automatically using DHCP
        , or
      • Select
        Configure IPv6 address and settings
        , and then enter a different IP address.
