RSLinx Classic and FactoryTalk Linx cannot share USB to DF1 Driver
There is a limitation that
RSLinx Classic
and FactoryTalk Linx
cannot share USB to DF1 drivers, which are used with Micro810
(2080-USBADAPTER) and L20E with Remote LCD Display (2080-REMLCD). Because the USB to DF1 drivers are automatically configured when the USB cable is connected, only the program that controls the driver first will be able to successfully communicate.Because the USB to DF1 driver cannot be shared between
RSLinx Classic
and FactoryTalk Linx
, you must ensure that the correct program takes control of the driver first. Once either program takes control of the driver, it will remain in control of the driver. Because FactoryTalk Linx
always runs as a service in the background, it can be stopped to give up control of the driver. RSLinx Classic
can run as an application so it can easily be closed to give up control of the driver but might also be configured to run as a service like FactoryTalk Linx
.To avoid conflicts, do one of the following:
- Restart the computer
- Unplug the cable to the device and restart the computer to ensure that both programs are shut down.
- Insert the cable to the device again and restart the driver.
- Browse for theMicro810or L20E controller fromRSLinx ClassicRSWho orFactoryTalk LinxBrowser. Whichever program is successful first will gain control of the driver.
