Rename a variable

Use the variable grid to rename an existing variable. Variables that appear dimmed, such as system and I/O variables, are read-only.
After renaming a variable, the references to the global or local variables are updated to reflect the new name. For more information, see Automatic reference updates for global variables.
Prerequisites
  • The controller is offline.
To rename a variable
  1. Open the global or local variable grid.
  2. Double-click the variable name, enter the new variable name, and then select
    Enter
    .
    TIP:
    To undo or redo a renaming operation, use the
    Undo
     and
    Redo
     menu from the
    Edit
     menu.
  3. From the
    File
     menu, select
    Save
    .
