2085-IRT4 channel configuration page

After adding the 2085-IRT4 expansion module to the controller project, four
Channel <x>
nodes are created on the
2085-IRT4
page. Select
Channel <x>
to view and configure the channel settings.
Channel x configuration page settings
Setting
Description
Enable channel
Turns the channel on or off. When the channel is turned on, the settings on the
Channel <x>
page are available.
The input variables for channel
<x>
are not removed from the global variable grid when the channel is turned off.
The channel is turned on by default.
Sensor type
Specifies the sensor type for the channel, which determines the default values for the settings on the page.
Options are:
  • 100 Ω Platinum 385
  • 200 Ω Platinum 385
  • 100 Ω Platinum3916
  • 200 Ω Platinum3916
  • 100 Ω Nickel 618
  • 200 Ω Nickel 618
  • 120 Ω Nickel 672
  • 10 Ω Copper 427
  • 0 to 500  Ω
  • 0 to +100 mV
  • Thermocouple B
  • Thermocouple C
  • Thermocouple E
  • Thermocouple J
  • Thermocouple K
  • Thermocouple TXK/XK(L)
  • Thermocouple N
  • Thermocouple R
  • Thermocouple S
  • Thermocouple T
The default sensor type is
Thermocouple K
.
You can select a Thermocouple or a Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) sensor for the channel.
The
Sensor type
selection determines the default values on the page. For example, if you change the default sensor type (Thermocouple K) to 100 ohm Platinum 385, the parameters on the page change to the default values for the 100 ohm Platinum 385 (RTD) sensor.
Each sensor type has a minimum and maximum temperature range.
For more information about the temperature range, see Sensor temperature ranges for 2085-IRT4.
Units
Specifies the temperature unit for
Channel <x>
. Options are
Celsius
and
Fahrenheit
.
Data format
Specifies the data format type for
Channel <x>
. Options are:
  • Raw/proportional
  • Engineering units x1
  • Engineering units x10
  • Percent range
The default setting is
Engineering units x1
.
RTD wiring type
Specifies the wiring type for
Channel <x>
.
The parameter is available when the sensor type is set to
0 to 500 Ω
for RTD settings.
Options are:
  • 2-wire
  • 3-wire
  • 4-wire
The default option is
2-wire
.
RTD 2-wire cable resistance
Specifies the cable resistance for the 2-wire cable. The value is from 0.00 Ω to 655.35 Ω.
To configure the setting, you must set the sensor type to
0 to 500 Ω
and the RTD wiring type to
2-wire
.
When the value you set for the cable resistance is smaller than the input value, it is subtracted from the input value during each read. When the cable resistance value is greater than the input value, the underrange or open status bit is set to 1.
Filter update time
Specifies the interval at which the channel is updated.
Options are:
  • 4 ms
  • 8 ms
  • 16 ms
  • 32 ms
  • 40 ms
  • 48 ms
  • 60 ms
  • 101 ms
  • 120 ms
  • 160 ms
  • 200 ms
  • 240 ms
  • 320 ms
  • 480 ms
The default interval is
120 ms
.
Filter frequency (–3 dB)
Shows the filter frequency for the channel based on a -3 dB attenuation criterion. The parameter is read-only and is
4.0 Hz
by default.
Options are:
  • 114 Hz
  • 60 Hz
  • 30 Hz
  • 14 Hz
  • 12 Hz
  • 9.4 Hz
  • 8.0 Hz
  • 4.7 Hz
  • 4.0 Hz
  • 3.0 Hz
  • 2.4 Hz
  • 2.0 Hz
  • 1.5 Hz
  • 1.0 Hz
50/60Hz noise rejection
Specifies the noise rejection for the channel.
Options are:
  • Both
  • Neither
  • 50 only
  • 60 only
The default setting is
Both
.
Open circuit response
Specifies how the channel responses when it encounters an open circuit condition.
The defined value is set on the input variables
_IO_Xx_AI_yy
when the connection on the input channel is open.
Options are:
  • Upscale
    and
    Downscale
set the maximum or minimum value depending on the selected input sensor type and data format.
  • Hold last state
sets the last good input value before the input open fault.
  • Zero
sets the value to 0 when the input channel is open.
The default setting is
Upscale
.
